How I work
Engagements start with a short scoping conversation, usually a few days of work. After that we both have something concrete to work from.
For diligence I work directly with the code and the team that wrote it. For advisory I work alongside whoever owns the technical decisions in the business. Some Xiliary Systems clients have been on the books for over a decade; others were single-quarter engagements.
Previous engagements
CTO of a software company. Led the consolidation of a microservices architecture back into a single deployable for team simplicity. Delivered a full-system rewrite in six months.
Legal exposure mapping for PE diligence. Cross-referenced public regulatory registers to map a target's compliance footprint. The gap between the registers was the diligence question.
Bespoke systems for small firms. Custom document management, secure file transfer, and time-tracking systems. Each in continuous production for over a decade.
Developer-analytics startup. Founded an early-stage company mining git history for developer-skill signal. Predates the current AI-coding wave by a decade.
About
PhD in search-based software engineering. Founded Xiliary Systems in 2010. Built and run Weighbridge as a TDD platform for PE. Earlier career in real-time payments, NOC operations, and enterprise software research.
